Artists in Transit
Artists in Transit is a collaborative arts project aimed at delivering creative workshops to communities and people in times of hardship.
We believe in human to human solidarity through the sharing of skills and joint experience.
We support each other to achieve shared goals and encourage everyone to get in touch and take part.
We aim too:
To offer solidarity through the sharing of skills and joint experience.
To work and support each other as a team to achieve this.
Who are “we”?
We are a very small team “led” by myself, Molly Daniel. Our first project’s team was with my mother and sister, who are both artists. The project team will grow and change depending on where projects lead us and what they are.
How does Artists in Transit work?
I said “led” previously as I hope to create an environment where everybody works with self led initiative within a team of supportive people. We hope to create a collective of people who want to take part in active change and running or supporting workshops with an artistic outcome. Team members do not directly have to be “artists”, anyone who wants to support us is welcome and all skills are highly valued. We feel it is important to not only offer workshops but also to take the time to volunteer and support the project or people that have welcomed us, so projects will nearly always also include time volunteering with them. We must be a highly flexible in order to do this work, as we can not always expect things to go to plan or for it to be as we “want” or expect. It is always good to sit back and gain a wider perspective and to separate our own personal goals as artists too the work we are doing. Although we want to foster and create an artistic lead environment we must remember we are there first to show solidarity and support and to create art second.
